AD. the specimens of this plant in WalHch's and Strachey and Winterbottom'a
Herbaria are indifferent. It appears to be a very large species, allied to 3f. 2fepa-
lentis and M. WaJlicMi. From JET. aculeata it differs in size, in the branched stem,
the scattered, very long, soft, deciduous bristles, and in the much larger capsules;
from M. Nepalensis in being more glabrous, and the-hairs being very much longer,
. spreading, and flexuose, WaHich's 8124 is in fruit and glabrous; 8126 is very cri-
nrte in some parts. Strachey and "Winterbottom's specimens are quite intermediate -
in character; the colour of the flowers is unknown. Be Candolle's description oŁ*
' 3f. Nqpalensis does .not materially differ from this plant.
5. M. TJipalensia (DC. Prod. i. 121); elata, robusta, tote setis
